Final idea

Apple Plank Cookies

The final idea was generated with thought to the shape and flavor. Most cookies are circular, so I stretched mine out. The topping is also unusual in that they were fresh apples and sliced to cover the cookie. Topped off with a mix of cinnamon and sugar.

Idea Generation

What kind of flavors do I like? Inspiration came from this and working with limited supplies.

Ideas: Solid Pyramid, Blueberry Muffin, Dried fruit, Apple Cookies, Blueberry Cookies, Smoothie Cookies, Tropical Theme, Bowl with ice cream, Sphere Cookies, Tie-die Cookies, Swirl Cookies, Cookies that represent Minnesota

Idea Test 1

Faraday Pyramid Cookies

Creating the Pyramid Cookie was much harder with the soft dough. Creating the solid figure was a challenge. The layered format was easier to create. Once baked the cookie became flat. I then decided to bake each layer and then later assemble the pyramid. This was the best option for this cookie. With the drawings the cutting of shapes also worked better than creating the solid form.

Idea Test 2

Fruit Bowl Cookies

This cookie was not as difficult to shape as the pyramid. I used a specific muffin pan and pressed the dough before it went into the oven. Tried different foods inside. The applesauce was sloppy and did not add great flavor. Then I tried ice cream. I added Vanilla and it was good, but this would not be feasible for class because it would melt.

Iteration

These cookies had to be modified to be more original. Lots of the trial cookies did not look aesthetically pleasing. I had to manipulate the recipe because although it was based off of sugar cookies it was hard to work with. The sugar cookie dough was not strong enough to hold shapes. I also added fruit which changed the composition. I created much dough and had to modify the structure to create the final cookie. Compared to the lump of cookies on the far right the final was much improved.
