WHAT IS SCI ?
Student Code-in is a global program that helps students grow with “OPEN SOURCE”. It is a 2 months long Open-Source initiative which provides you the best platform to improve your skills and abilities by contributing to vast variety of OPEN SOURCE Projects. In this,all the registered participants would get an exquisite opportunity to interact with the mentors and the Organizing Team. Being a completely free of cost initiative STUDENT CODE-IN Stands out in crowd .SCI is always there to assist students whether it is a beginner or an accolade and affirms to built their future in an accomplished way. For those who do not have any idea about open-source, at the simplest level we make sure that they get to learn something new from the projects they are contributing for.

HOW SCI WORKS ?
You require almost no skills for SCI, just a lot of enthusiasm and dedication to reach your goal. Every project requires very different skills, and often, these are things you will learn with us when you start working on a project rather than possessing them beforehand. First and foremost step that you will take would be choosing a language in which you hold confidence based on which you will look out for projects that interests you . SCI is very supportive and is very sincere and active towards clearing every single doubt of a candidate who are missing skills and helps them gain expertise for sure.
1.Finding the right project: You will be working on the project for a lot of time, so it is essential that you find a project that interests you .When you shortlist the projects you like, Be sure about how keen you are to contribute for that particular project.Before choosing your project think it as the only way which will play the major role in your triumph.
2.Getting familiar with GitHub: We will foster you to the GitHub Repository of the project you are interested in order to have complete knowledge and functionality of the project you should read the documentation of that particular project. This could be a difficult process especially for beginners with open source. Keep in mind not to dive right into the code base directly as this can be critical at times due to the length of the code base.
3.Contact the mentors: As you have a long time to spend with SCI ,having a contact with your mentor has a vital role to play throughout your SCI journey as they are the one’s who will prove to be a backbone and a constant support behind your success.

One thing that you should always keep in mind is nothing is possible without hard work,without any legwork on your side you will eventually end up receiving no conceptual knowledge. Do some research try to dive into the code on your own. After doing all this, when you get stuck then you should without any delay ask your mentor to clear your doubts. Mentors at SCI are very humble and take up your doubts and trouble as their own so there is nothing you should fear of while interacting with them.
