We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again…we consider it a privilege to partner with incredible parents like you to help students discover how to fully #JoinJesus.
Today’s theme at MIX is Kingdom Workers look like Jesus and when we look at the parents we get to partner with we see a whole lot of Jesus! Being a parent isn’t always an easy gig, but we truly do see Jesus in you.

Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

REFLECT HERE
When we begin a relationship with God we walk out of the darkness and become children of light. Paul says at one time you were darkness. We all have been. Maybe some of you still are. If that’s true for you, maybe you need to ask God to no longer be ABSENT in your life. Let His light in. Maybe some of you are living in God’s light, but have some dark areas.
- Where are there dark areas in your life? How can you better job following God’s example?
- What is your “old self” that you need to throw off in order to look more like Jesus to your child?
Do you spend too much time at work? Are you impatient with your child?
- What do you need to do to put on the “new self” in order to look more like Jesus to your child?
Paul says there shouldn’t even be a hint of sexual immorality among you because these are easy places to slip into darkness.
As a parent, how are you doing with protecting your child from sexual immorality? How can you set your child up for success against the temptations of sexual sin?
Are there movies in your house that are worth getting rid of so that your child doesn’t stumble onto sexual content? Have you monitored what they are viewing on Netflix, the Internet, or social media?
PRAY HERE
Here are three ways you can be praying for your child today:
- Pray that your student will form relationships with peers who love Jesus so they can follow Jesus together (Proverbs 27:17).
2. Pray that your student would be listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit to discover the good works that they were created to do (Ephesians 2:10).
3. Pray that your student would begin to look more like Jesus in the areas of kindness and compassion towards others (Ephesians 4:32).

“Father God, thank you for parents who are Kingdom Workers by the way they look like Jesus to their kids. Holy Spirit continue to lead the parents of our students to be patient and kind toward their kids, to be compassionate and understanding when their kids are going through this awkward life transition, and to be joyful and proud when they watch their kids join your rhythm by doing Kingdom work. Thank you for creating these parents to do good works for the good of their families and to Your glory. Amen!”
