DAY 3 | KINGDOM WORKERS SERVE

Today our students are learning all about the words SUBMIT and SERVE. Everyone is called to submit and serve one another.

As you read through today’s passage, use the following working definition for submission: Leveraging your strengths to make sure someone else succeeds.

Paul addresses three different relationships during these verses: husbands & wives, children & parents, servants & masters. Frequently, the word submit leaves a bitter taste in our mouths; however, Paul paints a picture that engages everyone.

Ephesians 5:1–2 (MSG)
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn’t love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that.

When we are truly loving another person, we are serving them. We are making sacrifices for them.

Loving one another gives up the attitude of “it is all about me” or “me matters most”. When we truly love others, especially those in our family, those attitudes go away. Our number one priority is not ourselves, it is the people we are serving, loving, and respecting. The question isn’t: “Who do I have control over?” The question is: “Who can I sacrificially love and SERVE the same way Jesus loved and SERVED me?

Take some time right now to work through the following questions and challenges:

- In what ways are you showing love to others around you and in your family?

- Write three things down that you do well that shows your child how to love others, especially those in your home.

- Write down the name of someone you can serve & one specific action of service you can carry out for that person.

PRAY HERE

- Take some time to pray for that person right now.
- Pray that God will show you new ways to show love to your family and those around you.

FINALLY, we are asking that you pray for your child and the other students here at MIX. We really appreciate all of your prayers and ask that you continue to do so throughout this week.

1. Pray that your student and other students will experience God this week and accept the challenge to become a Kingdom Worker.
2. Pray that your student and other students will learn how to show love for others in the ways that Jesus has shown love for them.
3. Pray that throughout this week, your student and others will grow in their spiritual life and join God’s Rhythm.

You all mean so much to us and we know your child would not be here without you.

God, thank you for these parents. We are grateful to have them as a part of our ministry and especially that they have allowed all of us to know their child on a deeper level. Thank you that they have shown trust in us when it comes to their child. God we ask that these parents can truly show love to others, especially those in their family. We know that it can get hard to show love to the ones closest to us. These are the people who have to forgive us because they are our family. We ask that you change our attitudes towards our family. Let us and these parents be able to truly show love and sacrifice to those around us. We know that you call us to love others, especially those in our family. You have given them to us and we know that they are a blessing. Help us to always see them as a blessing. God we love you so much. Thank you for everything you have given, especially for the gift of Jesus. Amen.
