The Surprisingly Complex Principles of a Successful Picture Book
Chronicle Books

Wonderful article. It describes so articulately and well the daunting, difficult, and yet utterly magical process of writing books where the rhythm and precision of the words combine to enchant, engage, and inspire. It’s what I aim for every time I write, and sometimes the magic flows, and sometimes it spurts. And when it happens, when it works, the words speak to the soul and transcend their ordinary, daily job of simple communication.
