In terms of significant architecture in the 20th Century, Stahl house is known if not by name then by sight and has been held up, as a clear example of Modernist residential Architecture.

It has caught the imagination of artists and film directors with its unique use of steel and glass jutting out over rock and shrubs to embraces the cityscape of Los Angeles before it.

The house is not only interesting because of its open design and use of materials but because of it’s considered approach to layout.

Koenig’s use of personal and private spaces in order to create a panoramic view of the city but still create spaces of intimacy inside the house is unique and thoughtful.

The house is shaped like an “L” creating a space behind the pool for personal and functional use, and also has the only solid wall throughout the building.

The Kitchen, Living and Entertaining space are the ‘on view’ examples of modernist architecture with the use of glass walls, steal frames and cement slabs creating an undeniable form sitting refined in the hills of Los Angeles.
