I agree with Josh here. There are a number of things I would put in the PM column that don’t fit in the Designer overlap (purposely mixed visual metaphors here ;) and they are all related to making a team execute effectively. A lot of them are about process and organizational design designed to make productive, efficient , high-quality output. In this area PMs look more like factory managers.

Some designers could be good in those roles as they are highly organized and have an attention to detail, but few do.
