Every morning we tune into the local news to see who was shot last night. Without fail, these shootings occur in populated neighborhoods where everybody knows the comings and goings of about evyerone. But what seems to trump the desire for safety and security is the axiom that “snitches get stitches” or more accurately, “snitches get dead.” Yet with every murdered child, every murdered spouse, every murdered significant other, a grieving friend or relative appears on the screen pleading with anyone who knows anything to come forward - the same grieving person who dare not utter the slightest word should the victim not be their loved one. And so the cycle continues.
