‘Submit to your husbands’: Women told to endure domestic violence in the name of God

Firstly let me say that I am a part of a men’s ministry that is about catching men before they descend into doing stupid things and damaging their families through domestic violence

You article describes these men as “Christians who attend church sporadically”. And therefore not people who spend a lot of time in the bible and as such misinterpret it.

Christians are to submit themselves to each other (Ephesians 5:21), to government (Romans 13:1), and unto God (James 4:7). This is a frequent concept in the Bible. Self-sacrifice is required in each circumstance. Submission is never glossed over to be seen as easy or always convenient. Instead, it is viewed as service unto God.

Putting up with domestic violence or using the scripture to condone domestic violence is not on, and furthermore, a truly Godly man will love and protect his wife and show her the love and grace of the Lord.

Any person who does twist the scripture to abuse another will be dealt with harshly when the stand before God for judgement.

Matthew 12:36–37 makes this clear: “and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

We need to remember that we are, as Christians, fighting a dark enemy who will do anything to gain our souls. Satan will destroy society to do this by firstly destroying the head of the household (husband) and thus the family. When enough families crumble so will society.

If I ever see one Christian man defending another one’s violent behaviour I will bring them to heel, this is my promise. #menofhonour
