Wasn’t the US aviation crowd fixated on the Norden bombsight, though? It might have been tricky to integrate the bombsight and autopilot into a British airframe, given the secrecy and red tape which surrounded the device.

When faced with the attrition numbers mentioned in this article, the smaller crew size of the Mosquito would presumably count in its favor. If a plane gets shot down, then I imagine that you’d prefer to have two men inside — instead of ten.
