Local Kids Say “Not So Fast” to Ice Cream Truck

It seems like the honeymoon is over with the new ice cream truck that drove onto the street a couple minutes ago. While the promise of delicious frozen treats was at first extremely attractive to the neighborhood children, things are not so sweet as they once were.

Some serious digging by local girl Jennifer Rogers (who reads at a 5th grade level) into the menu printed on the side of the truck reveals a series of periods that lead to the right hand side of the pony-themed mural. On that side, it was discovered, was a list of prices that the children were expected to pay in order to obtain the ice cream.

“We were shocked,” said local boy Thomas Armstrong, “this truck showed up promising us ice cream and now they expect us to pay for it!?”

The menu, which must have been put together hastily by someone who clearly didn't want people to eat his ice cream, charges $1.00 for an ice cream sandwich, and $1.50 for a Drumstick.

At press time the children were unclear on how the ice cream man would use their allowance monies.

“What do ice cream men even do with money?” Asked Samantha Rogers, who lives around the corner from the park, “it's not like the trucks they live in even have room for Xboxes or anything.”

Rogers leaves us with some sage advice: “It remains to be seen what, if any, changes will be made to the menu prices. In the meantime, it’s a good lesson for kids to always read the fine print before getting all excited about free ice cream.”
