Recently I’ve been reading a lot about Bulletproof Coffee; it all started after I read Elaine’s post, where she recommended a cup of coffee in a used coconut oil jar to make homemade Bulletproof Coffee. Since then I’ve been wanting to experiment with this to figure out my own version! The concept of oil and coffee is quite new to me, but the possibilities seem endless! ☺
I think what I want to try to add is ghee, coconut cream, and cinnamon. I’d also like to try ghee, coconut oil, and almond milk — but coconut and almond both have very distinctive flavors, so I’m not sure how well they’d play with each other.
The truth is I don’t drink very much coffee — but I do very much look forward to my first cup of coffee in the morning, and making it a special little ritual might be fun for me. Right, and also enhance brain function. Haha.
I also want to try this because, while I’ve bought ghee and know what it tastes like and how diverse it can be, I never actually cook with it. I know of many yogis who take it straight, one teaspoon a day, but I also can’t really stomach that. This would be a good way for me to get my daily dose of ayurvedic well-being in! — my Eastern medicine nutritionist/yoga teacher in Taiwan always said that this, as well as kitchari, are two of the most balancing foods from an Ayurvedic standpoint. While I’m unable to keep with the rest of her proposed diet for me, I think ghee would be something that I could easily fit into my daily coffee routine!
