I’m no behavioral scientist, and can’t speak to the greater application of this finding. But for me, “reduced activation of the corrugator muscle” means that I’m concentrating (i.e. fighting with the typography to discern the meaning of the piece) on the content less. This doesn’t mean I’m less engaged with the piece, it means I’m assimilating it more easily. The face I make when I’m concentrating or deep in thought can easily be construed as a frown or anger.
