What is DAE(.dae) file format?

When you download 3D character in Mixamo, you can see .dae format in the format list. What is it?

DAE stands for Digital Asset Exchange and is a file format for used to exchange data between 3D applications.

DAE file format is in XML format. This XML is based on COLLADA(COLLAborative Design Activity) XML schema so DAE file format called COLLADA file.

Because it is in XML format, all elements are defined by XML tags.

You can connect 3D asset with the 3D processing tool using XML tag defined by in this way.

This point, 3D asset means a concept that includes models, animations, textures, colors, and so on.

3D processing tools can be Android Application or CAD or Photoshop.

In other words, connecting 3D asset with 3D processing tool mens is after downloading 3D character from Mixamo in a .dae file format, it means processing the downloaded .dae file on the Android app to express the 3D character.

Or downloading a .dae file to your computer and drawing a 3D character in Photoshop (of course, analyzing the .dae file and drawing it on the screen is a very very difficult task).
