Jamilah — thank you for sharing this and don’t ever apologise for it. Racism is wrong on whatever level it operates, whether it is in a police station or a first class lounge. Microaggressions such as you detail here are part of a larger problem in society and we need to call it out when we see it. I have Indian/Pakistani heritage and I get sick of people asking me where I am from, repeatedly, after I have already told them “London”. It’s not a big deal in any way, but at the same time it just shouldn’t happen!
