BASIC INSTINCT KIT

What do you do with your gut feeling?

Decisions decisions decisions! I dread the moment to make decisions!

But still, I want to make the call. Nobody else should chart my life, you know. There’s been too many incidents in my life where I just left the decisions to others. Situation controls me. People control me. I fear manipulation.

I grew up learning that you have to make decision based on logical facts. Step one, you have to identity the supporting data.
Step two, pros and cons into put into consideration.
Whichever decision with the most pro facts will win. Yet, it’s not that simple. What if the cons carry bigger weight than all the pros facts?

So, throughout the years, I learn to trust my gut feelings. Because there are many circumstances in life that I wished I have trust my gut feeling instead of rational logic, especially about people. My gut feeling tell me who to trust and it has appear to be reliable so far. But it is not always right.

So I carry this basic instinct kit everywhere I go, so it can act as weapon when I’m doubtful.

#Kit 1 — Mindfulness mediation break
Take a 5 minute break. Go off to somewhere without distraction. Excuse yourself to the washroom if you have to. Just sit down and do nothing. Clear the mind. Think of nothing.

#Kit 2 — Draw anything
Grab a pen. Grab a piece of paper. Just draw anything according to what you feel. Draw repeated patterns if you want to. Let your palm move. Listen to your body.

#Kit 3 — Cast away
Surrender whatever that is to higher power.

Feel better? Once the mind is clear, I observe my body signals. What am I drawn to? What is my heart telling me? What exactly am I feeling about the certain decision? Is my heart pumping faster? Is that fear? Is that openness?

Clear.
