Every single person on the face of the earth that has ever lived and ever will live will be wrong about something. I have been wrong so many times and the realization of how wrong I was has been very unsettling for me in the past. I’ve gotten an all-too-familiar feeling of shame, disappointment and an urge to make it all go away. This is normal, but not terribly productive if your intent is to use this experience to better yourself. After changing my outlook on certain things, I am excited when I am wrong. I love it. I have found an opportunity to learn something new. The motivation to learn makes me want to discuss things that are at the edge of my knowledge with my peers because that’s where I get to be wrong. Tomorrow, hopefully I’ll be wrong about something a tad bit more interesting and nuanced than I was today.
