You may be reading that title and thinking that I have gone a little wacky. Have I forgotten how to read a caledar? Have I been completely MIA the past month?
The answer to both these questions would be no. Where work and many other activities are concerned, I am 1/12 of the way into 2015.
However, when it comes to things on the “personal to do list”, 2015 starts today.
So, why the late start? Some of it was completely planned and some of it was completely coincidental.
First, the planned things. There were many things that I want to do in 2015 that fall into the “daily habits” category. However, I’m a firm believer in momentum and I knew my circumstances at the beginning of the month were not conducive to gaining momentum. I decided that these things would begin February 1st.
I knew going into January that the first 5 days of the month were going to be spent in Utah with a big travel day on the 6th. I knew I would only be home for about 8 days before another big 7 day trip to Maryland. I would then have another 8 days at home before February 1st.
The big unknown was that on January 1st I was suffering from the ending of a very bad cold. I could barely breathe. I was having trouble walking without getting light headed, and I was having coughing fits that made it sound like I was dying. Not a great way to kick off a year.
I could have started mid-month of course. I could have picked a random date, but that doesn’t really match my slightly OCD brain.
I’m really hoping that 2015 is an awesome year, and in many ways for me that starts today.
