Well yeah — and lettuce can harbour bacteria that are bad for people especially those with depleted immune systems, but that doesn’t mean that we should say lettuce is “literally” — that is, actually, by itself, without any exaggeration, in the old school meaning of the word — poison. The issue is not the milk itself, it is that raw milk has not been treated to remove the things that would be dangerous (poison) on their own or if they were ingested in some other way, like bacteria that cause potentially fatal food poisoning or TB. I’m not suggesting a different stance, just a more accurate use of words.
