Feeling Disconnected

Occasionally we feel disconnected in our interactions with other people. It may show up as having trouble getting people to understand our ideas, or we suddenly find our opinions are drastically different from the people around us.

When this happens it’s very possible the disconnection with others could be a mirror of what we feel internally. We may not always notice when we’ve become internally disconnected, until other areas of our lives stop running as smoothly.

If we choose to see our outer sense of disconnection as a sign that something is happening within us, we can better work through it and resolve it quickly.

It’s important to take some time and explore our feelings and see if we have an internal conflict that needs to be resolved.

One of the best ways to reconnect with our selves is by spending some time doing focused, mindful breathing. When we calm our breath, it calms our mind and gives us a new sense of internal awareness. With the new awareness we can look at what we need to do to return our inner balance.

Once we have connected more deeply with our inner selves, we will likely find that we are better able to genuinely connect with others.

By strengthening our awareness and building a stronger connection with our authentic selves, we tend to feel more balanced and secure from within. This helps us interact with others from a place of honesty, which helps our interactions be more meaningful.

Earlier this week I was up near an old gold mine in our mountains and was reminded of an old metaphor about panning for gold a hundred years ago.

In those days, a prospector would gather sediment from the river in a pan and sift through it to see what lay at the bottom. After shaking the pan repeatedly, the dirt and silt would fall through, and stones would be thrown back leaving the only the gold.

In the same way, sometimes we need things to be shaken up in order to get new perspectives. These new perspectives can lead us to different decisions.

In this world of dualities, we need to be able to consider all the information, including the opposites, before we can truly make our best choices.

It’s important to remember the right choices are always within you, and sometimes all you need to do is take the time to watch the inner swirling until the brightest hope for the future appears.
