Theoretically all these problems exist for designers (us), but for user I doubt if all these exist. At any given time, as a user I have few set of tasks to do, lets say 1) I’m in the instagram, I usually copy paste a set of hashtags for certain posts of mine, I know I have widgets in the notification centre, I swipe down and access widgets. I close them by swiping up. I don’t get confused between this and accessing it from lockscreen.
Second task: I’m in the lock screen, I want to take a picture. I took it, and tried to swipe back, but it didn’t work. I press home and I went back. I don’t see a huge experience problem in that, I learnt how to go back to my lockscreen. Previously in iOS9, I swipe up to access camera, to go back to lock screen again, I press home. I ideally do the same thing here.
Third task: If I am in the widgets screen and again access widgets, wait what? Why would I want to access them ? I swipe down to see notifications at that instant, not to see widgets again.
Tbh, I never had trouble accessing camera or widgets when I had so much notifications in the lockscreen. Yes, the new design is a complicated mess that Apple has designed, but it’s not like they fucked it up so bad that I couldn’t use it. I particularly love the aspects you didn’t mention — 3d touch on the notifications to jump right in that particular page of the app. I want more apps to build what iMessage, Calendar, Uber has done. When I post two photos in Instagram and I get notification that ‘X’ person liked this pic and I want to see which photo it is, I just have to force tap it. Life it too short to open an app to see what’s happening :)
