If UX research is to be taken “seriously”, UX researchers need to learn more about research ethics and to use “empathy” with caution when conducting user research.

Ethnographers are careful not to presume what their subjects are feeling or project their own experiences.

Like researchers in behaviorial and cognitive science, UX researchers have to be aware of the possible impact of experiments on participants. Will this test make participants question their ability or expose them to the fact that they are in a group that is considered as less literate, lower income, special needs, etc.
