Philanthropy has a growing place in business. The impact of large businesses goes beyond their industries and extends to how they choose to prioritize and support causes. With major companies like Goldman Sachs and Microsoft leading the charge in donation, and many startups incorporating positive change and impact into their businesses, we are steadily moving towards a philanthropy-focused working world. In times where the struggling and suffering of others is so prominent due to social media and the internet, the movements towards aiding those who are disadvantaged can not only restore hope, but lead to more action, support, and connectedness. With the power that businesses hold, those that rise to this occasion are particularly notable in their impact and consideration.
Jeunesse Global’s Impact
Another company that stands out, both in its own growth and contributions to causes, is Jeunesse Global. A beauty and wellness company based in Florida, Jeunesse is committed to helping people look and feel young through the company’s skincare and nutrition products, as well as direct selling program. The billion-dollar, international company is active in over 140 markets worldwide.
Parallel to the business’s success locally and abroad, Jeunesse is active in several causes across the globe, such as the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada and The Forgotten Child Foundation. In addition to aiding several charitable organizations, Jeunesse founded Jeunesse Kids, the company’s own nonprofit, dedicated to meeting children’s basic needs and promoting sustainability.
Jeunesse Kids is “dedicated to creating a positive impact on the lives of children worldwide.” Based on a model of establishing sustainable projects with long-term effects, the organization acts through village sponsorship and local initiatives.
Partially inspired by Co-Founder and CEO Randy Ray’s difficult childhood, as well as Co-Founder Wendy Lewis’s compassion for children, the pair wanted to find a way to make a positive impact in as many children’s lives as possible. The two have cited the desire to help children as one of the key factors in the overall founding of Jeunesse Global.
In addition to the work of Jeunesse Kids itself, Jeunesse Global’s own Distributors and employees have added to the nonprofit with donations that exceed $1.58 million.
Paired w/WE Charity
Jeunesse Kids carries out village sponsorship in partnership with WE Charity and its WE Villages program. The program contains a list of five areas of impact to prioritize: health, education, clean water and sanitation, agriculture and food security, and income and livelihood opportunities. This method is based on an internationally proven model that intends to lift communities out of poverty and into self-sustainability.
Recently, a group of 80 volunteers comprised of Jeunesse employees, Distributors, family, and WE Charity Co-Founder Craig Kielburger, traveled to one of Jeunesse Kids’ adopted villages, Los Rios, Ecuador, to aid with the construction of a water tank design to bring clean water generated by the school’s new treatment facility to the surrounding residences.
Jeunesse Kid’s Adopted Villages
With the help of WE Charity, Jeunesse Kids has adopted six village communities. The work that has been done in these communities includes:
- implementing mobile health clinics and livelihood training programs that empower women and children in raising and managing their finances,
- building classrooms, as well as providing classroom teachers, supplies, and academic and health education programs,
- building water treatment facilities and hang washing stations,
- and developing agriculture and animal husbandry programs to help teach and promote both food security and income potential.
The villages that Jeunesse Kids has adopted are Dao Lazui and Gufubao, China, Irkaat and Kesebek, Kenya, Los Rios, Ecuador, and Kalinjar, India.
In addition to the work with WE Charity and WE Villages program, Jeunesse Kids supports local charitable initiatives with international Jeunesse events. According to the Jeunesse Kids website, the “local initiatives are focused on a specific project that will yield sustainable, long-term benefits, such as buildings, facility renovations, equipment, infrastructure, medical treatments and education.”
In February 2017, Jeunesse Distributors raised more than $80,000 at the Jeunesse LEAD Las Vegas event. The money was raised for the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada, and allowed the organization to update its soccer field and provide more than 40 new study tables throughout the area.
In fall of 2017, during the Jeunesse EXPO8 World Tour, 50,000 attendees raised more than $900,000 to fund local causes — this exceeded the goal by 30%. Soon after, in early 2018, Jeunesse exceeded another goal at LEAD Los Angeles — the company donated $128,831 to the Ronald McDonald house for renovations on a 19-unit wing that houses immune-compromised patients. The company and the nonprofit hope to exceed these impacts in 2019.
Jeunesse Global is a company dedicated to its causes, its employees, and the integrity of its products.
