Yeah you are right that most of the technology enthusiasts first believe their idea/solution is superior and would solve the problem (whichever area focused on). But what they miss out is the context under which the idea or solution works. Agreed things might be hazy with tons of questions in mind and no solution, but that’s where testing waters really works.

Goolge did not start out to build google glass, driver less car, internet balloons on day 1 nor was the idea when larry page and sergey brin first began working on search engine project during their MIT days — it all started with BackRub, an academic research project. But the key thing that worked was adoption. In the days when you had Yahoo, Altavista and other search engines asking many questions to the user to understand the search criteria, google gave a single line to enter the text and deduced the search criteria. That made all the difference. Larry and Sergey got there, through feedback & iterations.
