Sales & Profit Overview & Product Analysis

Introduction:

In this analysis, we will be exploring the customer order details of a superstore using Tableau. The goal of this analysis is to gain insights into the sales and customer behavior patterns of the store, which will help in making data-driven decisions to improve the store’s performance.

Data:

The data for this analysis was sourced from the Sample Superstore dataset in tableau. The dataset contains customer order details for a superstore over a period of four years, from 2018 to 2021. It includes information on the products sold, the customers who made the purchases, the order dates, and the Sales & profit amounts.

Insights:

Sales & Profit Overview:

The first visualization is the sales & profit trendlines per quarter between 2018 to 2021. As we can observe that sales & profit has the maximum in quarter 4 and the minimum in quarter 1.

Product Analysis:

We then analyzed the store’s products by creating a Product Analysis dashboard. The dashboard shows the top products by sales. We can see that the store’s top-selling product is the Phones, followed by Chairs and Storage between 2018 to 2021. The top products by profit are Copiers, Phones, and Accessories, while the top products by quantity sold are Paper, Binders, and Storage.

Customer Analysis

Customer Analysis:

We also analyzed the store’s customers by creating a Customer Analysis dashboard. The dashboard shows the top 10 customers by sales, profit, and the number of orders placed. We can see that the top customer by sales is a consumer customer, followed by corporate, and followed by Home office. The top customer by profit is a small business customer, followed by a corporate and a consumer customer. The top customer by the number of orders placed is a consumer customer, followed by a corporate and a home office customer.

Regional Analysis

Regional Analysis:

Finally, we analyzed the store’s sales by region by creating a Regional Analysis dashboard. The dashboard shows the total sales and profit by region, as well as the top-selling products and the top customers in each region. We can see that the West region has the highest sales and profit, followed by the East and Central regions. The top-selling product in all the regions is Binders. The top customer in all the region is a corporate customer.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the Tableau analysis of the customer order details of a superstore has provided us with valuable insights into the store’s sales and customer behavior patterns. We can see that the store’s sales has been increasing steadily over the years, with a significant spike in 2021. The top-selling products are Binders, Paper, and Furnishings, while the top customers are corporate, consumer, and Home office. The West region has the highest sales and profit, while the top-selling products and top customers vary by region. These insights can help the store’s management make data-driven decisions to improve the store’s performance and profitability.
