Indeed, I had a conversation just this week about the way in which the small West Campus was designed to encourage interaction.

Because of its small size, West Campus allows students to immerse themselves in research and interact with faculty in many ways. On the other hand, at Tempe Campus there is no way to identify who is a student or who is a faculty member. However, on a small scale, the subgroup we are talking about is not likely to be created. Strong ties can be made, but weak ties are not easily made. On a large scale, subgroups can contribute to the balance and development of the community.
