Finding my niche.

7.125 Billion.

Google answers when I search for the world population.

So many people, so many minds, so many dreams, and then me.

I grew up naively thinking of the things I would change in the world. It wasn’t the typical childhood fantasy of people screaming for my autograph or becoming a hero. My dream was simple, has always been simple. My dream was to change the world through words.

But now, with 7.125 billion voices screaming with all their might my mind just goes vacant. My voice becomes feebler every minute. I strive to create quality. But the world demands quantity. And between this paradox I suffer as my determination seems to be oozing out of me. Yet I plough on. I know now that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

So, to find my niche in this crowded universe I yearn for the courage to brave this solitude. I need to leave a mark on this world, however tiny it may seem.

The process to finding one’s niche lies in the following few steps.

  1. Listen to your heart. Because that is where the passion which drives you begins.
  2. Get out of your comfort zone. Comfort zones are for the weak. Shout out loud to anyone who can hear you. Even if no one hears for a long time, someone eventually will.
  3. Avoid analysis paralysis. Do your homework, but ultimately you need to take action.
  4. Somehow the biggest risk is not to risk at all. A contemplated risk is worth all the consequences.
  5. Don’t wait for the perfect time. Life is short. Time shorter. It’s now or never.
  6. Face your fears. Fear is nothing but an obstacle. Don’t let it daunt you.
  7. Live in the present. Let the future build itself.
  8. Take the leap. Aristotle once said, “Courage is the first of all human qualities because it is the one that guarantees all others.” Have the courage to take the leap and close the gap between your dreams and reality.
