Couple of days ago, Samsung introduced two new smartphones namely Galaxy J7 Pro in India. Though, specs of this device are decent, but price is big factor in India and i think Samsung should have been priced with more aggressive approach. In this article, we will be going to compare it with its cheaper alternative Redmi Note 4, which is best selling mid range smartphone in India. Without any further ado, let’s get started with Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Comparison:
Design and Display
J7 Pro vs Redmi Note 4 Design and Build Quality Comparison: The Redmi Note 4 has full metal unibody design with solid build quality, but it does not feel good in hands as it is very bulkier. While using, you might be end up with getting tired your hands since it is bit heavy because of big battery. On the other side, The J7 pro is either come with metal design with premium feel and look. It has 7.8 mm thick body while weight is not mentioned yet. The handset gives more premium feel and look than redmi note 4 and the company tried to something new in terms of design. Overall, design is more premium of J7 Pro and makes it clear winner in this segment.
Display: The Redmi Note 4 has 5.5 inches 1080p IPS LCD display whereas Samsung J7 Pro flaunt 5.5 inches Full HD Super AMOLED panel with 1080 x 1980p resolution. Though, both the displays are same in terms of size and pixel density but big difference in IPS LCD vs Super AMOLED. Apparently, Samsung J2 packing excellent display but Redmi Note 4’s panel is not bad either.
Hardware and Software
Hardware Comparison: The Xiaomi Redmi Note is powered by a powerful Snapdragon 625 chipset with Adreno 506 GPU which works on an octa-core CPU cloaked at 2.0GHz with 14NM architectures. Power efficiency and optimization is just excellent on Snapdragon 625 processor. On other side, The J7 Pro packs company’s own build Exynos 7870 processor with Mali-T830, also built on 14NM FinFET process with octa-core CPU cloaked at 1.6GHz. Having similar looking on board processor, Redmi note 4 has more powerful processing power. In terms of performance, their should be no problem in normal usage but if you love gaming than Redmi Note has Batter GPU. In this segment, Redmi Note 4 is clear winner with having nicely optimized and more powerfull processor.
As far as storage is concerned, Redmi Note 4 comes in three variants: 2GB RAM / 32GB storage, 3GB RAM / 32GB storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage. The J7 Pro has single variant with 3GB RAM and 64GB RAM. You would not feel lack of storage on both devices indeed. Therefore, both the devices featuring good hardware but Redmi Note is winner with its batter processor. Furthermore, all the basic sensors are given on both the devices and good think is that, Samsung did’nt skipped any basic sensor this time.
Software:The Redmi smartphone runs on Android 6.0.1 with MIUI and company is planning to upgrade it to Android 7.0, even beta version has been rolled out to its consumers. On J7 Pro, it has Android 7.0, Nougat out of the box with TouchWiz UI on top. In addition, Samsung has done some nice work in UI field which makes it batter than Xiaomi’s MIUI. In terms of storage, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is winner.
Camera Comparison: Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro boasts a 13MP, f/1.7 aperture rear camera with LED flash given as always. On front side, it has 13MP, f/1.9 camera to capture selfies. The company has introduced a very unique concept of social sharing. By using it, you can share captured images to your social handles in one click process. Moving to Redmi Note 4, the device packs 13MP, f/2.0 rear shooter which a 5MP front snapper for selfies. Specs wise, Samsung is way ahead then Redmi Note 4.
The Redmi Note 4 is not a good device for camera lovers. For making fair comparison, we have to taste it in real world scenarios. As of now, going with specs i can say J7 Pro’s camera would be batter with more good images shots. In depth shots will be definitely batter on J7 pro as aperture is reduced to f/1.7 on it. If you are looking for good camera, i will suggest you to go with J7 Pro.
Battery and Connectivity
Battery: The Redmi Note 4 is backed by 4100 mAh massive battery but no fast charging support. In our teste, The handset managed to get full one day of usage without having charge on it. If you are moderate user you can even get 2 days of battery life. On the other hand, a 3600 mAh battery is given on J7 Pro. Batteries are just excellent on both the device.
On both the smartphones, You can expect similar kind of on screen time but Samsung devices are batter optimized for video playback as they are having Super AMOLED display which does not consume any energy to produce black and very less energy for deep colors.
Pricing in India
Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Price in India: The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is priced at Rs. 20,900 in India and comes in Black and Gold color options. It will be up for sale from July, 20 via offline and online both.

Both the devices are giving tough competition to each other, but J7 Pro is winner for me. If you talk about value for money device then my pick would be Redmi Note 4. Price difference is huge in between both the device as Redmi Note 4 costs almost half then J7 Pro. Both handsets are good on their own. It totally depends on what you are looking for.
If you are seeking a device with good camera, batter display and sleek design and price doesn,t matter, you should go with Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro otherwise Redmi Note 4 will be good choice either.
