What Is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI. It is trained on a dataset of internet text and is capable of generating human-like text in a variety of formats, such as conversation, story-telling, and content creation. It can be fine-tuned for specific tasks such as question answering and language translation.

To use ChatGPT, you can type a question here. ChatGPT will read the questions and generate appropriate responses in a conversational setting, allowing you to learn new things or have fun conversations. It can write essays on simple to complex topics.

Who Built ChatGPT?

ChatGPT was created by San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company OpenAI. OpenAI Inc. is the non-profit parent company of the for-profit OpenAI LP.

OpenAI is famous for its well-known DALL·E, a deep-learning model that generates images from text instructions called prompts.

The CEO is Sam Altman, who previously was president of Y Combinator.

How Was ChatGPT Trained?

GPT-3.5 was trained on massive amounts of data about code and information from the internet, including sources like Reddit discussions, to help ChatGPT learn dialogue and attain a human style of responding.

ChatGPT was also trained using human feedback (a technique called Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback) so that the AI learned what humans expected when they asked a question. Training the LLM this way is revolutionary because it goes beyond simply training the LLM to predict the next word.

Is ChatGPT Free To Use?

The use of ChatGPT is currently free during the “research preview” time.

The chatbot is currently open for users to try out and provide feedback on the responses so that the AI can become better at answering questions and to learn from its mistakes.

Limitations

One of the limitations of ChatGPT is that it is a large and complex model, which makes it resource-intensive to run. This can make it challenging to use in real-time applications, such as chatbots, where there may be a need for quick responses.

Another limitation of ChatGPT is that it is a generative model, which means that it is not always able to provide accurate answers to specific questions. In some cases, the generated responses may be irrelevant or nonsensical, which can make it difficult to use in certain applications.

Additionally, ChatGPT, like all NLP models, is limited by the quality and quantity of the data it has been trained on. If the model has not been trained on a diverse and representative dataset, it may not be able to generate accurate responses to inputs that are outside of its training data.

Overall, while ChatGPT is a powerful and versatile NLP model, it is not without its limitations. Its resource-intensive nature and potential for irrelevant or nonsensical responses make it less than ideal for certain applications.

Conclusion

Over a million users have registered to use ChatGPT within the first five days since it was opened to the public.

In conclusion, ChatGPT is a state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) model developed by OpenAI. It uses a neural network architecture and unsupervised learning to generate human-like responses to a given input. ChatGPT is capable of understanding the context of a conversation and generating responses that fit naturally with what has been said previously. This makes it a valuable tool for a wide range of conversational tasks, such as customer service, language translation, text summarisation, and sentiment analysis.
