Hygiene Practices in Children

Walking on the path of completing our mega project we have made the hand wash that we wish to distribute among the deserving students. Additionally, we have also kept our social media platforms updated in order to spread our idea to more people and make sure that when in future we expand our operations, for which we will require funds, people already know about our project.

Coming this far in the project was not easy. We faced hurdles and challenges, some we anticipated and some we did not. The major issue we faced was our busy schedules. When we planned the project we were still taking our university’s lectures online and planned accordingly, but at the time of implementation our universities opened up and on campus classes we resumed. Few of our group members also started new jobs which consumed a good amount of their time. Another challenge we faced was that lockdown was once again implemented in Lahore, the shops were instructed to close at sharp 8 PM as per the new SOP. All of us had work and university commitments during the day and were planning to shop for the chemicals at night time or at least after 8PM. All these variables pushed us a little behind the schedule but we managed to pull through by having more communication and meetings than before. We made sure that all of us are constantly on the same page, knew what hurdles each member is facing and collectively came up with solutions regarding the specific problems.

The impact that we have generated is that we have made people in our surroundings start a conversation regarding lack of hygiene in schools and madrasas by having conversations with them and by posting on our social media pages. All the processes that are linked with our mega project have also impacted us. We now are more aware of the privilege we have and the necessities that others do not. As we are almost done with the project we now know that we can undertake such a project again and succeed in implementing the project making it fruitful for the shareholder. The project has made us more confident and more believing in ourselves. After the distribution of hand wash at University Laboratory School Lahore, we would have impacted around 1,200 students as we will be helping them understand the importance of hygiene and providing them with a tool (hand wash) to maintain their personal hygiene.

In order to make sure that our project sustains, we have already bought raw materials that we would be needing for our next batch, which we will give out in the coming month. As we plan on visiting the school and distributing the hand wash right after a month from the first distribution, we will investigate whether the hand wash is being given to the children or not. Also, is there any impact on the children, are they taking their personal hygiene seriously or not. Based on the feedback we will be making our next moves.

We are eternally grateful to Amal Academy for the amazing opportunity they have presented us with. Us individuals have always thought of creating an impact in the society but never really acted upon it, this opportunity acted as gate for our future projects that will create greater impact on the society. Till then we can sleep in peace knowing we have created some value and impact.
