Words have the power to turn a healthy tree into a dead one. Such is the impact!

When you know the potential of spoken words, use them for good.

Such energy in words, I would wonder!

Bruce Lee’s words echoed in my mind —

“Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy and they cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself, and you can change your life.”

Now that such is the power of words, I explored the meanings of some beautiful words in Sanskrit languages.

1. Nirvana (Sanskrit: निर्वाण, nirvāṇa)

The state of absolute peace is when you are at peace with yourself.

Your desires no longer impact you.

You become happy by attaining your goals and accomplishments.

The feeling of utmost peace after attaining your purpose is nirvana.

Experience your nirvana, by fulfilling your incomplete goals.

The feeling of achieving your goals is the best in the world.

2. Mokṣa (Sanskrit: मोक्ष, moksha)

The liberation from worldly desire is what moksha is known to the world.

The realization of self without any limitations is the state of attaining divine grace.

The liberation of the mind is the ultimate victory towards leading a happy life.

The salvation of self is the best practice, to achieve your goal

Moksha is the state of mind, where you are free from materialistic desire and find peace in yourself.

3. Aatma (Sanskrit: आत्मा,ātmā)

The soul, the essence of your being is Aatma.

The Cosmos parmaatma ( God), aatma is a small part of the bigger picture.

The body is created and destroyed ( ie. Birth and death) but the soul never dies.

Because it is a small part of parmaatma ( the Almighty), the aatma.

Keep your soul unwavering of fears and believe in him.

Atma is a humble way to connect with the Higher self.

Chanting, signing hymns or mediate, do whatever you find suitable, to make your connection strong.

4. Chitta (Sanskrit: चित्त)

The uncontrollable mind is the organ that travels thousands of miles without having to move.

Such is the power of your subconscious mind.

It can foresee the unseen and shows the path to the unexplored.

That the power of subconscious mind, it takes happen impossible possible.

With faith and positivity, you can turn any situation in your favor.

5. Dhyana ( Sanskrit: ध्यान)

The state of meditating or focusing is what dhyana is.

Without being affected by the external world, focus more on internal peace.

Forget the chaos outside to focus on inner peace.

Meditation or the state of dhyana is a great way to focus on the inner self.

To connect with oneself, to know oneself and make a peace with it.

15-30 minutes of dhyana is a great way to kickstart an amazing day.

The time you spend with yourself while dhyana forms a strong foundation for a healthy lifestyle.

6. Namaste ( Sanskrit:नमस्ते)

I see and bow to the divine in you’.

The greeting style in Hinduism while meeting someone is Namaste.

The state of folding hands and bowing to greet someone is a great way to show respect to the person.

It is humble way to see the divine in each being, and bow to them while you meet them.

More than a ‘hello’, Namaste is the essence of respecting every person with equality.

7. Seva ( Sanskrit: सेवा, sevā)

The art of Selfless service is what Seva stands for.

Not expecting anything in return but giving, because you’re capable of giving.

Acknowledging that you are fortunate enough to give, seva is the form to give without expecting anything.

It may be charity, offering eatable, or offering service in religious places.

To give is the true essence of service.

Being selfless while offering is the ultimate charity you can do.

These seven words are more than just words. Explore their beauty to live mindful living.
