I find feminists and SJWs have an obsession with framing issues. It’s not just a need to control what is discussed but how it is discussed, and in doing so, they introduce such strong bias their conclusion is the only reasonable one that can be made given those first principles.
When many feminists try to highlight a disparity between the genders, they don’t ask “How is this unequal for one gender, and are there similar ways that the other gender faces that issue?” They instead ask “Does one gender have an advantage over the other in this narrow sphere irregardless of circumstances?” and then immediately cite anything that women lag behind in as sexism and anything men lag behind in is “toxic masculinity” or patriarchy backfiring etc.
A good example is universal suffrage. Many women historically did not have the right to vote…but the same was also true for many men. Suffrage was traditionally tied to land ownership, and in many cases when the women were able to own land they were also able to vote. Universal male suffrage came largely as a result of universal male conscription. Universal female suffrage came largely as the result of protests and advocacy. To this day, women are in general not eligible for drafting. Women did not have to die in mechanized slaughter to gain the ability to vote. Picking and choosing at the privilege buffet and taking only the sweets, I think.
