It has nothing to do with emasculation.
Who is putting this pressure on men to make more than women? I agree it’s nonsense that a man should feel emasculated when a woman makes more than them. To me it’s a societal issue and we need to evolve as a society (and as men) to not lose our shit if that’s the case.
Success and status by men are sexually desired by women, and so success and status is what men will try to achieve. A woman who is more successful than a certain man will rarely have sex with him, yet the opposite happens all the time (think cute barista at Starbucks). So long as women demand men are more successful than them to have sex with them, men will continue to be more successful than women.
Even in the examples you give, there is far more maternal than paternal leave. I would love to spend time with my kids when I have them. But the reality is that I can’t.
