This is part of feminist retconning of history. Women were glad to not have to work in the factories anymore. Rosie the Riveter herself only worked for a week before she quit: she wanted to protect her hands so she could play cello.
Traditionally, since the 1910s men and women have attended college at a ratio of about 1.25. This only changed during the Vietnam War (where a college education could exempt a man from the draft) and now (with women making up 60% of enrollment).
Women have made choices historically to protect work-life balance. And feminists have screamed that it is actually misogyny and men that caused this. When men have protected women, feminists have called it misogyny.
