What a gross mischaracterization! This is nothing like historical racism in the American South. One is a demonstrated legal bias and the other is perception of inequality because women don’t choose fields that detract from work-life balance, and that is somehow misogyny.
Picking and choosing what rights to take and what responsibilities to ignore at the Equality Buffet leads to a different set of problems. Where is the push for men in teaching at Harvey Mudd? What about men in fashion design, social work, and HR?
Women are more socially conscious then men (in general). The push for women in computer science only happened after it started to become a somewhat socially-acceptable and well-paying field.
When Harvey Mudd aims to get more male English majors at the same time, then they will have my applause. Until then, it’s just pandering and lowering the bar for women in tech.
