I’ve been taking my Samsung Gear 360 Video Camera with me everywhere since I bought it. Over time, as I’ve used it more I’ve learned how and what are interesting videos to take. Specifically when you’re with family, it’s best to just mount the camera on a tripod and let it record for 30–60 second increments or more. The memory and joy comes from reliving the moment, and not necessarily heavy editing.
Prior to shooting this 30 second clip, I actually recorded about five minutes of raw footage of my family trying to take a Christmas Picture. It’s ridiculous in only the way that my family can be. After the success (of taking the picture) we had the idea to all gather around the 360 camera and do something Christmas-y. We gathered around, I clicked record, and in that instance we decided to sing Jingle Bells.
And the rest is gold. Watch the video. Use the cursor to swivel around and see different vantage points. When you record in 360, you catch all the action. So plenty of things happen that you don’t actually catch until the third, fourth, or tenth viewing. I love this technology, it just needs to keep on improving. I want to relive memories like this 50 years from now.
