As reported by ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Bulls have completed a trade that sends former MVP Derrick Rose, fellow teammate Justin Holiday and a 2017 2nd round pick to the Knicks for a Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon. This might not be only the only transaction the Knicks made. According to FOX Sports, the Knicks (with their 30 million in cap space) plan to pursue C Dwight Howard and PF Pau Gasol.

What it means for the Bulls

The Bulls have a lot of tough decisions to make with their All-Star SF Jimmy Butler (He is a free agent this summer). The Bulls will have to move on and start worrying about their other superstar free agent (who will most likely demand max money). The Bulls will have to deal with three players who could add depth in Grant, Lopez and Caldereon.

What it means for the Knicks

The Knicks now have consistency at the point guard position in Derrick Rose. They now also add an underrated player in Justin Holiday. With the amount of cap space they have, they can start to pursue journeymen Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard. The Knicks have a solid team now with the franchise player (Carmelo) and a budding star in Kristaps Porzingis.

How this affects the draft

The Bulls gave up a 2017 second round pick in the process. Other than that, the trade did not effect the draft that much but it will set the stone for future trades.
