The Chicago Cubs and the Miami Marlins will face off on Thursday, June 23 at 7:10 ET. The game will be broadcasted on CBS, MLBN, and FS-F.

The Cubs will be a tougher opponent to the Marlins than their last, the Atlanta Braves. The Braves hold the worst record in the National League. The final game between the two ended 3–0 Marlins.

Right off the bat with a win, the Marlins may have the necessary momentum to push through this series. Last year they split six games with the Cubs. Another advantage to the Marlins are the players on the Cubs disabled list. The following athletes will not be playing:

  • Anthony Rizzo: first baseman
  • Dexter Fowler: center fielder
  • Jorge Soler: left fielder
  • Tommy La Stella: infielder

The two projected starting pitchers are Jon Lester for the Cubs and Wei- Yin Cheng for the Marlins. There is an apparent skill difference between the two with Lester’s ERA at 2.06 and Cheng’s at 5.22. Lester will be shooting to win his sixth straight game.

For the Marlins, Marcell Ozuna and Martin Prado are key contributors to the offense with the most at bats and a .323 average for Ozuna and a .321 average for Prado. However, Giancarlo Stanton has had a slight decline in his career, losing .54 points off his batting average from the past year.

The Cubs have many returning stars, among them Kris Bryant, a well rounded athlete, showing strengths in all areas. Last year was Bryant’s rookie year and he made quite the name for himself.

Catch the game tonight on your local television sports provider and see which team comes out the strongest.
