Game Preview: Yankees vs. Twins
By: Lindsay Studstill
With no day to rest, will the Twins be able to bring it against the Yankees? The game between the Yankees and the Twins will take place Friday, June 24th at 7:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.
Home games have not been going the best this season for right-hander Masahiro Tanaka(4–2). The pitcher will be looking to reverse this when he opens for a three-game series with the Twins on Friday. Tanaka is looking for his second strait win against the Twins. He will be coming off eight innings of one run, seven hit ball against the Twins.
Tommy Milone (1–0) will start for the Twins, in his first big league game since April 25 against the Indians. Milone was last called in to replace Pat Dean after Dean allowed the Yankees to score seven runs in his last outing. In Milone’s seven minor league starts, he was 4–0 with a 1.66 ERA.
Things to look out for
- Carlos Beltran has hit 19 home runs in 68 games this season
- Alex Rodriguez had a two-homer game against Milone last July 25
- Last game the Twins faced Tanaka, Eduardo Escobar hit a second inning double, a fourth inning single, and a ninth inning homer
