Getting Back At It.

Finding my writing rhythm again.

A few months ago, I said I was going to write on Medium every day.

It was an ambitious goal, stemming from my 2018 goal of writing every day. I had been using a Tumblr, but decided I wanted to move to Medium to connect with more people and learn from other writers.

But looking at the last time I published something before this article, clearly, I lost focus of my goal.

It wasn’t because I didn’t care about it anymore. I had plenty of reasons why I didn’t have time to write: changing jobs, training for a marathon, working 2–4 side hustles to make some extra money.

I had/have a lot going on.

But there is always a reason not to do something. It’s about finding the reason that will get us to actually do something.

I’m not going to give up on my writing. It’s important to me and something I want to get better at.

I may not be able to write every day, but I’m going to work toward that goal for the rest of the year and see where I end up.

It would be easy to give up. To just not return to my writing and my goal.

I could say, “oh well. I failed.”

Or, “I have so many other things going on. I can’t find time for my writing.”

But I’m going to keep working at my goal. I may not be able to achieve it totally this year, but I’m going to get better.

This is where the cliche of “it’s the journey, not the destination” really holds true.

It’s not that by the end of the year I will have become an incredible writer.

But by sticking to writing as much as I can and finding small moments to fit in some writing, I am going to get better little by little.

Even though I didn’t do it every day. 😅
