Stranded for two years on an Arctic island, this woman miraculously survived by shooting seals

I’ve always been one to enjoy survival stories, but in all my reading I had never run across this particular tale. This would make a wonderful adventure for the History channel to develop. I enjoyed Stephanie Bucks short narrative. I plan to read the account next in the book (The Adventure of Wrangle Island) by Steffansson, and will try to find Ada’s reporting of her adventure as well. The irony that Russia had already laid claim to the island added a bit of a kick in the teeth, I’m sure Steffansson felt when he learned the truth. But I doubt Ada cared one way or the other. I’m sure she was glad to be alive.
