Sumokoin — One Year and The Next

As you may probably know Sumokoin has just closed one year since its official launch.

It’s been a difficult but exciting year for all of us, we have encountered many problems and challenges that required lots of hard work to solve and deal with. Sometimes we had to face problems that were not predicted and were not caused by us but we have managed to overcome them and Sumokoin became stronger through them.

The last couple of months were very crucial for Sumokoin as the project has decided to expand its team and important people have jumped onboard to help us create an absolutely private, innovative and fungible cryptocurrency.

Haruto and I have decided to step a bit backwards on an advisory role supporting the main development teams that work on code due to personal reasons. Quang Vu has total control of the premine wallets.

There are two teams at the moment working on Sumokoin’s code. One team is led by @fireice_uk , a well known programmer among the crypto world for his brilliant coding skils, that was given the freedom to pick and hire himself his team members and the other by Quang Vu who is a member of the founding team of the coin, Quang’s team is comprised by fellow colleagues of him in the software industry. Both teams work independently on different projects and are coordinated by me and Haruto.

In the mean time we are pleased to announce that we have already hired a full time cryptographer/university lecturer holding a PhD on Elliptic Curves cryptography who along with sumogr will check the cryptographic aspects and improvements of our coin. We are thinking of hiring another one that will work independently so that both teams can confirm each other but that depends on various things such as funds and coordination. The cryptographer’s name will be announced soon.

We would like to thank Patrik, Sumogr and the PR team who is doing a great work to support the community, contact exchanges and increasing public awareness for Sumokoin.

Regarding the near future development roadmap we will integrate bulletproofs protocol, as already announced, and we are proceeding in integrating fireice_uk’s optimised 64-bit Cryptonote elliptic curve library (https://github.com/fireice-uk/cryptonote-speedup-demo). The lite wallet is already out and the web wallet is being tested and debugged hopefully we will proceed with the release soon (no dates yet till we are absolutely sure cause the web wallet is bug free and secure). Cryptographically wise we are working on solving the Temporal Analysis Attack on Monero’s chain as described here https://eprint.iacr.org/2017/338.pdf (Heuristic III)

Sumokoin team and I personally are very excited about the future of our project and would like to thank the community for the support and trust they put into us.
