Alternative End to The Movie Lucy

A few weeks ago, I watched the movie Lucy with my Dad. I found the movie to be quite interesting. It follows a regular girl, Lucy (played by Scarlett Johansson), who ends up with a powerful drug in her stomach. She is supposed to act as a drug mule, and transport the package, but the contents somehow get out and enter her system. Because of the drug, she begins to unlock more and more of her brain capacity, and uses that power to take revenge on those who did this to her in the first place.

Although the story progressed quite nicely, I feel the movie lost the audience at the ending. Lucy uploads all her intelligence into a flash drive, and disappears into the space time continuum. I didn’t think the movie had enough action, or rising conflict to engage audiences. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not totally putting this movie down (it made quite a bit of money), but all I’m saying is that they could have done the ending better. Here’s my take on the ending.

I started thinking if there could have been a better, more engaging ending. Here is what I came up with.

Imagine an another one of the drug mules gained this kind of power as well. He, unlike Lucy, would begin his powers to rule the world, and threaten to make the world a dystopia. Lucy, now, with the help of Professor Norman (played by Morgan Freeman), has to race to subdue the man before he can unleash his power.

With this climax, I think there would have been more action as well as a rising conflict to keep the audience glued to their seats.
