Atomic Habits Book Cover

Atomic Habits written by James Clear is one of the #1 New York Times Bestsellers.

There are many people in the world who likes to change or be the better version of themselves. And here in this book, we get some answers on why the best are the best. And what are we doing that is different from them. More clearly, the author describes more on the habits of the people and how they affect the way we live our life.

This book lies in the category of information category, but it also differs from such books through its clear application purposes. Each chapter has clear examples and instructions on how to apply the topics. It is also less heavy on technical references and clinical or lab examples and gives entertaining and live examples of how other successful people apply the skills.

The book divides the book into the Habit cycle of Cue — Routine — Craving — Reward. And each chapter on these provides different approaches of the habit cycle to either break bad habits or make new good habits.

How is it different from “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg’s book?

The Power of Habit book has more content and example, and it deals with the concept of Habits and how it was tested, polished, and used by different people. It looks more like a journal where we learn more about Habits and are given clear examples of the application of the habits on how it came to be.

While Atomic Habits is more on the application of Habits. It does not go in-depth on the explanation of the topics but more on the application of the Habits cycle.

Personally, I would prefer to read Charles Duhigg’s book to get clear knowledge of how the studies were conducted and to go deeper into the habits. And look into Atomic Habits to know more about how to apply them.
