Summary
Percy had been blamed that he had stolen the lightning bolt of Zeus and Hades’s helmet of darkness. He needed to hand in the bolt and helmet within 10 days or else there will be a war between the gods, but the problem is, he didn’t steal the bolt and helmet! He, Annabeth, and Grover thought Hades stole it, so he went all the way to Hollywood, the entrance of the Underworld, to find Hades and let him hand back the bolt. After they arrived, they found out that Hades didn’t steal the bolt, so they went out of there. After a fight with Ares, they took back the bolt and helmet, hand them back to the Olympus and Underworld, and found out that it was the defeated Titan Lord, Kronos, who sneaked into people’s dream and seduce them to follow him to destroy the Big Three. Percy later reported the truth to the Olympians and went back to camp half-blood. On the last day of the summer solstice, Luke used a scorpion to poison him and told him that the world of Kronos is coming. Fortunately, he was saved by other campers, but Luke was already gone.
Thoughts
This book is written in first person. This is amazing! Every time Percy was fighting a monster, I felt like I was the one who was fighting. Every description was so detailed I thought I can really see the wonderful or terrifying sight. Its pretty interesting Rick wrote that when mortal see monsters, gods, Titans, and other supernatural occurrences, the Mist will change what the mortals see. For example, when Percy was using Riptide (his sword) to fight with Lord Ares, the polices told him to put down his gun (they thought it was a gun)! Rick even wrote that gods never die, they only disappear. That’s why Luke said that Kronos will take revenge to the Big Three. He didn’t die after Zeus cut him into pieces! When Percy found out that Luke betrayed him, I was extremely angry. I used to think Luke will be Percy’s best friend but I hate him now.

Mrs. Dodds(one of the furies who pretended to be Percy’s teacher and was send by Hades) was a sand castle in a power fan. She exploded into yellow powder, vaporizing on the spot, leaving nothing but the smell of sulphur and dying screech and the chill of evil in the air, as if those two glowing red eyes were still watching me.
