I should clarify that I’m not exactly devout. Though I definitely believe in God, I’m way more spiritual than I am religious. But, I do believe that being raised Jewish had a profound effect on who I am today. The Holocaust had just ended (just being relative), and I saw first hand what hatred and racism could lead to. It made me tolerant (for lack of a better word, because I do more than merely put up with people who are different from myself). I abhor racism. So much so, I find it abhorrent to wrongly accuse someone of it. Especially someone you don’t even know. And to automatically suspect/question/look down upon someone simply because they displayed their own country’s flag (OUR flag, as in even those we’re supposedly protecting) on their own property? I probably better not say what I think of that.
