Thanks for your replies, Caleb. They make sense.
I admit, I saw your sea lioner reply and jumped to the conclusion you determined Arthur to be a troll with very little thought behind that determination. On the other hand, I follow you and have seen some of those mocking comments you mentioned, which may have lead to my misjudging.
I’m no political genius. In fact until a few years ago, I didn’t even know the difference between right and left. All I know is I don’t fit into any of the boxes. None of them. And, I’m still way more interested in history and human behavior than I am in politics.
What I do know is, I’m no activist. I’m more of a “What can I do to make the world a better place?” The answer to that question does not involve writing or online interaction.
And, it’s people like Arthur on here, who have been more accepting of my non-activism, my somewhat libertarian-ish views. When I do explore political issues, I read all “sides,” but usually only direct my responses to, frankly, many of the people who progressives seem to find so difficult, or in this case, sea lioners. They don’t take offense or imply I’m insensitive. They are generally more matter of fact. No swearing. No capital letter yelling. Less emotion.
But no, that doesn’t mean I follow blindly.
So, I’ve read quite a few of arthur lecuyer’s responses over time, and have agreed with him way more often than I’ve disagreed. He is generally civil to those who are civil to him. So maybe he overstays his welcome, because it is exhausting to try to explain something to someone who seems to think so differently from you (the general you). But, wrong or right, I don’t think he means to offend, and that’s enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt.
