That distorted society
That distorted society is the society where citizens’ value system is broken that money, fame and materialism weigh more than humanity, emotional healthy and empathy. The success is defined by your net value, in other words, the amount of money you are making, not the development of your personal growth nor the contribution you are making to the society. Often times, I struggle to think how one society can be this distorted morally and everyone takes their lives for granted to a large extent. Maybe, just maybe that we are educated from the western society and learn that the purpose of the life is to serve, to solve the problem and to create greater impact.
That distorted society is the society where people ambitiously seek short-term return and always look for the shortcut in their lives; this is also ridiculously wrong when it comes to career, success and life in general. There are just so many morally-wrong things in this society that no one cares to make a difference.
That distorted society is the society where copycat is encouraged or the only way to make it big. Innovation comes from inside, innovation takes time and effort to innovate and innovation belongs to originals. There are rare new ideas or solutions in this society, however, admittally, wechat is the most game-changing product ever in this period of our time. On the surface level, there are lots of new arising startups, technology, funding, talent and resources but at the core of the tech industry, there are not so many people out there who tackle the problems seriously. People are way too rushy and anxious.
That distorted society is the society where people are on a survival mode 24/7. They want to invest next big unicorns, they move business quickly like no other, and they crazily look for ways to make quick cash. Selfish and short-sighted are the only words I can describe in general. Oh I am biased.
Sometimes I want to change but it’s a constant battle to fight the system. People do change but don’t change people. When everything else fails, know what you want at the bottom of your heart and pursue what you want and become the best version of yourself. Else doesn’t matter.
