Awaiting the arrival of self-driving cars in India.

Ground realities

As developers we see a lot of talk about bracing your applications for the worst case scenarios.

Heck, we have dedicated QA engineering teams who try to replicate all cases that an application would ever encounter and verify the response.

Lets think the roads on which our cars are going to run, now think India.

**Boom**, if you have ever been on Indian roads, chance are you remember that guy who in a hurry to reach nowhere is cutting across all lanes without any turn-indicators.

Welcome to the country where everyone is in a rush.

While it would be a welcome change if I could continue working on my development while I am being driven by my car to office, I think it would be some time before that becomes a reality here in India.

Pragmatic driving algorithms would need to be overhauled if they are to step into Indian markets. With sudden braking, frequent potholes, speed breakers intended to break bumpers (unregulated height and width) being just a part of the problem, I wish the future could be here sooner that it logically could.
