You can have your pie and eat it too — Just pay for it.

Sometimes I try to explain to people how watching a TV season or two every month is killing their time. I have friends who binge watch through their nights and weekends.

Those who are not into TV shows are off to party every weekend, trying to forget their “pain”. Pain of a mediocre life, pain of being too weak, pain of not having the best life.

Remember, every hour you spend enjoying time away from your boring life, you increase the gap between yourself and the incredibly rich.

You are “paying” with your success to enjoy the distractions. And that is a huge price to pay.

There is a reason they call it a Journey to Success - it is not instantaneous. Behind every overnight success story there are many many years of hardwork.

The entertainment industry has come a long way in the past decade. From “Blood Diamond” in 2006, we have reached full blown IMAX 3D films being released every other week.

There is a reason they call it a Journey to Success - it is not instantaneous.

This industry has understood that there are pirates amongst us who will download every movie and increase the hype factor for the actors and superheroes who “are doing their jobs.”

Behind every overnight success story there are many many years of hardwork.

Compare this with how much you can accomplish in a few hours away from the distraction… you could start that online blog you’ve been planning for, you could actually read the book you bought last year and never got the time to read. You could get started on the personal pet project for your portfolio, you get the point.

Nothing puts it better than this.

I know people who have immense potential in them, wasting their hours staring at their TV/PC screens. I guess they are waiting for tomorrow.

I obviously understand the need to take breaks, but again, don’t let that blow out into a binge session. Instead, take a break and travel. Meet new people. Explore the countryside. Learn something new.

You are “paying” with your success to enjoy the distractions.

If you made it this far, I’m sure you have an idea at the top of your mind right now, go, get started on that idea.

Rome was not built in a day, neither will your blog, or book, or whatever it is :)
